Valentine Gift Boxes

Valentine Gift Boxes - A box, in general, is a receptacle, a vessel or a container whose main purpose is to hold, to restrain, to store, to hide, camouflage and to carry just about anything in a complete three dimensional enclosure. Its shape can be rectangular, square, round, elongated, oval or any number of geometric or irregular forms such as hearts, diamonds, octagons and so on. Furthermore, a box can have a sloped or domed top surface or non-vertical sides and a box can be opened by lifting, gliding or removing its lid which could be attached by a hinge, a clasp, a lock, fabric or adhesive tape. A box can be made of cardboard, plastic, class, ceramic, tin, brass, silver, gold, wood, leather, as well as many other known materials. Also, boxes come in limitless sizes and they can be plain and entirely functional or fancy for ornamental purposes.

Regardless of the box’s shape, size, function or the material it is made of, its direct and unmistakable ancestor is the chest which has been one of the most ancient of any known household furniture.

Now that we understand what a box is and what its origins were, let us take a close look at gift boxes and more specifically at Valentine gift boxes. A gift box is a box that contains a gift of some sort. And in some instances the gift box can be the gift in its own right. Gift boxes and boxes that are meant as gifts are made of a fine material (i.e. beautifully carved wood, artfully sculptured ceramic, fine crystal, etc.), they are often shaped into especially eye-catching forms and are decorated with sparkling jewels, plush velvet, engravings and so on.

We all know that first impressions count and therefore most of us attempt to make a good first impression by presenting our outward appearance as best as we can. Well, the same applies to gift boxes. The first impression of the gift within is the box that it is nestled in. Therefore, gift boxes are more often than not attractive. Or, at least, they should be.

For special occasions such as Valentine’s Day, gift boxes should speak of love and romance every bit as must as the gifts they contain within them. At http://www.wisconsinmade.com/wiscmade/dept.asp?dept_id=297
