Valentines Perfume Gifts
Selecting that very perfect perfume as a gift for your special Valentine may be baffling if not outright scary. But it does not have to be. Just follow my advice and you will survive it.
You already know that the right perfume gifts make loved ones happy and feeling cherished but there are literally thousands of perfumes to choose from and you have no idea which would be the best or even where to begin.
If you can answer just two important questions about your Valentine, a smooth path will clear its way through this daunting task. And the questions are: “What does my Valentine like?” and “What is my Valentine’s skin type?”
What does your Valentine like? Well, if your Valentine already has a preferred perfume and is not looking to make a change, you have no problem. As the old sages say, “Do not fix that which is not broken.” Just get more of the same. Your Valentine will appreciate the gift tremendously. First of all, that is exactly what is favored. Second of all, you have made a special effort to recognize an intimate detail.
Most perfumes today come with companion products such as soaps, body washes, lotions, powders and deodorants. You can initiate some creativity by getting one or more of the complimentary products from yours Valentine’s favorite scent within the same family of perfumes.
If, however, your Valentine is not happy with the current perfume at hand or does not actually have a perfume at all, you can be that all-time rescuer. But be warned about the hurdles you may encounter. What smells good to you will not necessarily smell good to your Valentine. Go back to the proverbial drawing board and ask yourself once more, “What scents does my Valentine like?” Could it be vanilla or cinnamon? Gardenias, lilacs, jasmine, lavender or roses? Limes, oranges, apples or strawberries? Why is your Valentine unhappy with the currently used perfume? Did your Valentine complain that it was too strong or too weak? Too musky or too sweet? Why does your Valentine not already using a perfume? Is your Valentine allergic to any scents? If your Valentine lights scented candles, what are their scents? Do the shampoos, soaps and deodorants that your Valentine uses have scents? Know the answers to all or to as many of these questions as possible.
Having sufficiently addressed the first question you must turn your focus on the second: What is your Valentine’s skin type? If your Valentine has a light complexion chances are that the skin is dry and will not hold scents for very long. Therefore, your fair-skinned Valentine will need a stronger perfume. If, however, your Valentine has a darker skin it is most likely oilier, scents will last longer and lighter perfumes will be sufficient.
Take all that knowledge about your Valentine with you to the person behind the perfume counter in a department store of your choice and tell them all that you know. They will be happy to help because that is why they are there in the first place.
Having narrowed the options to one particular scent, you must realize that you are still not out of the hole because your Valentine may or may not like the choice you have made. So, buy a small accessory of the same scent and perfume family that can be returned for a refund or a store credit. Gift wrap it beautifully and add a Valentine’s Day card that expresses your sentiments but that also assures your Valentine that if the scent is favored you will go back and purchase the actual perfume bottle. If, however, the scent is not to your Valentine’s liking, offer to take your Valentine perfume shopping for a better fit.
Congratulations for having scored big points because whichever the case may be, your Valentine will appreciate your efforts.
